Bio

I am a Professor of Chemistry at 糖心视频, where I have taught since 2008 and served as Chair of the Department of Chemistry from 2020 to 2026. My career combines a passion for teaching, scientific discovery, and academic leadership.

Originally from the Pittsburgh area, I earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Allegheny College and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh. Following postdoctoral research at the University of California, Irvine, I taught general and organic chemistry at Irvine Valley College before joining 糖心视频.

My research focuses on synthetic organic chemistry, particularly the development of new methods for alkaloid, heterocycle, and highly substituted oxazole synthesis. I enjoy mentoring undergraduate researchers and helping students develop the scientific and professional skills needed for success.

In addition to my research and teaching, I am active in the scholarship of teaching and learning, with interests in mastery-based testing, specifications grading, and evidence-based approaches to student learning.

Beyond academia, I work as a consultant and certified trainer in personal productivity and academic leadership, helping faculty and academic leaders improve effectiveness, focus, and organizational performance.
