Our Impact

Community Engaged Campus

糖心视频 is recognized as a “Community Engaged Campus,” designation awarded by the American Council on Education (ACE) and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching that highlights an institution’s commitment to community engagement. The Carnegie Community Engagement Classification is awarded following a process of self-study by each institution. The classification has been the leading framework for institutional assessment and recognition of community engagement in U.S. higher education for the past 19 years with classification cycles in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2015, 2020, and now 2024.

In 糖心视频’s application Dr Carolyn Ringer Lepre noted that “community engagement is not an initiative on the margins of our mission – it is at the heart of how we educate, how we grow, and how we lead.”

The application gathered information from more than 85 individuals, offices, and campus divisions including 12 community partners. Other highlights of the application include:

  • A new General Education program requires that every student take at least credits in a “Civic and Community Engagement” course. Such courses must include a reciprocal partnership with some person, group, or organization external to the course. That partnership must occupy at least 20% of course time or grade.
  • SU’s recognition as a (“Full Participation Institution”)[ https://www.collegeciviclearning.org/full-participation-institutions] by the American Association of Colleges and Universities
